Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy Replacement

If you're contending with a loss of hormones, the symptoms can manifest as mood swings, night sweats, weight gain, and more. Bioidentical hormone therapy is a solution and one that's naturally derived and available at Trophy Club Family Medicine from Dr. David Yi, Dr. Paula Lansford-Seabaugh, and Carol A. Addy, PA-C, serving Trophy Club, TX, and the nearby region.

General Information About Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

These hormones are used to replace hormone loss that happens to both men and women over time. For this particular treatment, a practitioner from our family medicine practice will apply tiny pellets under the skin that contain the hormone. Gradually, they break down over time and enter your body to replenish your depleting hormone levels. Typically, they replace the hormone for three to six months after you receive them.

Unlike standard hormone replacement therapy, when you opt for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in Trophy Club, TX, you receive a naturally derived option. It comes from a plant, usually soy or yams, and the hormones mimic your own hormones to a T.

How We Administer the Treatment

You should know that the treatment is relatively quick.

First, we'll sterilize the area where we're going to clean the administration site, which is the upper outer buttocks. A doctor from our practice will then give you a numbing agent in the area so you don't feel anything at the site during treatment.

After, one of our practitioners will make an incision in the area. We'll place a tube there and administer the pellets through it. The final step of the process is placing a piece of tape on the site. Because it's such a tiny incision, stitches aren't necessary, and the skin will heal together. In general, the incision is between three millimeters and a half of an inch.

When to Expect Results

Though you may notice some difference in your symptoms within the first few days, you won't notice a drastic change for a few weeks. It could take up to a few months to feel the full effects.

Though the results are long-term, lasting several months, you'll need regular treatments to maintain the effects. If not, you could find the symptoms will return.

Safety Information

Though bioidentical hormone therapy has been deemed safe for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), you could experience side effects, like mood swings and hot flashes.
